VINTAGE PHOTOS OF OSTUNI

Four albums of vintage photos of Ostuni taken between the end of the century 1800 and 1950. Photos that depict an unusual Ostuni (unusual for those accustomed to living it today): the ancient village that, photographically speaking, oldest one can not ..., the obelisk sant'oronzo when he was still surrounded by a sidewalk , the ancient clock tower, the life of Ostuni in daily tasks (walking, business, religious events). Still, photos of some monuments now processed externally, such as Porta Nova, the watchtower of the port, the Capuchin church. Finally some curiosities: the 'Camerini', the beach town of Ostuni, so named because of the presence of the dressing rooms where generations of Ostuni have changed their clothes for enjoy a relaxing day at sea, a fountain that was destroyed to give way to the cars. Overall we see the 'cleansing' of the streets, virtually cleared of cars we are accustomed to see and the architecture, for example on the base of the obelisk in St. Oronzo completely different from what it is today. Most of the old photos of Ostuni, of exceptional beauty and rarity, there have been kindly sent by Mr. Joseph Dilauro whom we thank.
