From Cathedral public square, just at the shoulders of the bridge, a narrow lane skirt those ones that could be the only one walls remained of the Castle of Normanni, constructed in 1148. Of triangular shape, it came nearly completely destroyed by the earthquake in 1456. Also in this lace of the old city, the evocative panorama of navy and the forest of the olive-trees can be admired. At the base of the terrace, after have covered a wide zigzag perron, we arrived in via Balsamo De Landria, an other typical ways of the "Earth". From the little square before the area of the Castle, it can be continued over the arches . Here we find one of the beautiful portal of the historical center, realized by the master chisel Biagio Ciracì in 1790. Continuing leaving at our shoulders the baroque style portal, we meet others two portals pertaining to the Ghionda family. Still there are arches, alleys, perrons, without continuity of solution, but that is advisable to visit in order to feel the drunkenness of a travel back the time.
